The Tamagotchi is a handheld digital pet that was created in Japan by Akihiro Yokoi of WiZ and Aki Maita of Bandai. It was released by Bandai on November 23, 1996 in Japan and on May 1, 1997 in the rest of the world, quickly becoming one of the biggest toy fads of the late 1990s and the early 2000s. Wikipedia

Tamagotchi I was hatched from a Faberge egg. The Faberge egg was distressed irreparably in the process. The Tamagotchi I continues in his fastidious ways. 

The Tamagotchi I is a sketch for game software that invades the player's digital personal space without notice. His pixelized forbearers were kept happy by being fed, getting water, and having strict digi hygiene; I Tamagotchi is happy when he rearranges your data, plays loud, repetitive organ music at all the wrong times, and is a continuous nuisance and pain. He cares little for nutrition. Tamagotchi I is not for X-mass; he's forever. Your intimate digital space is his forever home.
